LET'S RAISE OUR VOICES AGAINST RACISM

Racism is a serious issue that affects many people in Calgary, as well as in other cities across Canada. It is a complex problem that can have a devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities. It is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

Racism can take many forms, such as discrimination in housing, employment, education, and healthcare. It can also manifest as hate crimes, bias-motivated incidents, and systemic discrimination. The impacts of racism can be severe, including mental and physical health issues, economic disadvantage, and loss of community and cultural connections.

Statistics from the Canadian government shows that Indigenous, Black and Asian people experience racism disproportionately as compared to white people in Canada. In Alberta, Indigenous people and Black people are reported as the most affected by racism in the province.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in reported hate crimes in Canada, particularly targeting people from the Muslim, Jewish, and Black communities. In Alberta, statistics shows a significant increase of hate crimes targeting Black people and Indigenous people.

The Live for Humanity (LFH) Foundation, based in Calgary, understands the gravity of the problem of racism in the city, and in the province. They have several projects dedicated to addressing this issue, including working on reducing hate and bias crimes, which is committed against a person or property motivated by hate, bias or prejudice based on race, ethnicity, or religion.

LFH Foundation aims to increase awareness of the problem of racism in the city, and work with affected parties to make them aware of available community and government resources. They also work with the Canadian government, non-government organizations, social and cultural associations, aid agencies, and donor organizations to introduce programs and projects on social problems that the people of Alberta are facing, in particular, and under-developed nations in general.

In conclusion, racism is a serious issue that affects many people in Calgary, and in Canada. LFH Foundation, based in Calgary, is actively working on reducing hate and bias crimes and increasing awareness of the problem of racism in the city. It is important to remember that racism affects not only individuals, but entire communities, and it is crucial to work together as a society to address this issue, and promote inclusivity, acceptance, and understanding.
