About Our Chairman

Mashhood is a Social Development Practitioner since 2003 with a demonstrated commitment to helping people in need. He has a solid experience in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects of social mobilization and community development. He has been associated with a number of not-for-profit, social and cultural organizations around the world with an aim to serve the humanity, empower people, build capacity and provide relief assistance.

At a local level in Alberta, Mashhood is leading Live for Humanity Foundation which works towards empowering women in the society to help them take charge of their livelihood during the economic downturn. He has organized various seminars and interactive workshops aiming at promoting healthy family living. Mashhood has contributed significantly in raising awareness about issues such as drug addiction especially in younger generation, hate crimes based on race, religion or color, and domestic violence. The objective of these awareness sessions and interaction aims not only at highlighting issues but also to provide some recommendations to make everyday life better for all Albertans.

As a community leader and Cultural Ambassador of Indus Valley Civilization, Mashhood has remained instrumental in resolving settlement issues of new immigrants in Alberta, their professional development and career guidance. He has contributed in projects like capacity building of elementary and junior high schools in Pakistan, empowering women, providing clean drinking water, midwife training to help decrease the new born death ratio, supply of medical equipment to hospitals in interior Sindh, and resources to Bangladeshi, Afghani. Somalian and Ethiopian widows so they could sustain their livelihood with respect and dignity.

In recognition of his social services, Mashhood has been honoured with Alberta’s ‘Coat of Arms’ badge by the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, ‘Ambassador of Indus Valley Culture’ award by the Government of Alberta, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, O Canada Horizon award by Canadian Times, Shield of Appreciation by Pakistan Excellence Club, and Honorary Cultural Ambassador award by Government of Sindh Culture and Tourism Department.
